In those stressful days of working in Singapore, I would always try different food choices, hoping that one of those will eventually become my comfort food.

My definition of comfort food: something I would look forward to eat, something which I will eventually be happy after eating…something that will never make me feel unsatisfied, something packed with regrettable calories!

Just a few blocks away from our house in Braddell, my friends and I discovered one of the best known burgers, sausages, fries served in a hawker setting. Botak Jones seems to be a favorite among locals due to their unpretentious servings and price. I believe “botak” means bald in the local Singlish term.

Orders range from 5 sgd-15 sgd unless you want to order their premium beefy treat. You can check out their menu here. Servers here are not the usual aunties and uncles, Botak Jones hired more youthful and energetic staff, some were even eye candies!

I love their Wieners/Sausages! And huge fries! I’m a ketchup addict so I prefer the plain ones. Last time, refilling of fries was usually free, not sure now. You just holler their servers and ask nicely, maybe they will slide you some. I tried their Cajun Chicken which was also yummy. A warning though, this is also a carb filled meal, choose the side dish wisely. I love their Double Baked Cheese potato.

You can download their menu on their website, it’s quite quirky and enticing so watch out! You might be ordering more than you can stomach!

Their Toa Payoh branch has this frozen margarita we all love! cheaper than going to bars but too bad they seem to close early!

You can check out their other locations:
