one too many travel adventures

You want to feast on local Singapore dishes at a cheaper price? Well, you better head your way to Chomp Chomp! Tourists were usually lured to more expensive areas for hawker food centre, like Newton Circus or Lau Pa Sat in Raffles.
Chomp Chomp is located near Serangoon Gardens, at 20 Kensington Park Road . We head our way to Toa Payoh Central bus station, riding bus 153 or 317. If you came somewhere else, you can just use Streetdirectory to find out how to reach that place. The beauty of Singapore is that everywhere seems to be within reach, just be patient that sometimes it will take an hour by commute when by car it will probably just take 20 minutes!

I noticed a lot of locals enjoy eating out (guess that preparing food is more hassle than buying them in a nearby hawker centre). More laid back dining here for sure however it’s quite small, I recall that it only had 4 aisles of hawker food stalls.
Before anything else, order this HUGE sugarcane juice! This is the one thing that made me come back for the last time! My dare to my friends was to finish this all by myself and drag others to follow my lead! Silly dare that made me regret because it was an hour bus ride back to our place!

I recently discovered a show that will give insight regarding how to survive if you get stuck in the “wild” or outside the usual path of our travels. I thought this was just a boring show like that of some Discovery channel shows.
The interesting part in the show was seeing Bear Grylls (who is a dashing host who was once a part of British Special force) eat anything on his path cooked or even fresh! Ugh..I would shriek in disgust but I guess he will take the challenge to make this show really believable. He drank his own urine, eat a fresh sheep heart, bugs, snakes…all those gross stuff. Wow!
At least somehow I felt educated how to survive even though I only watched it on TV. Interestingly, Will Farrell also joined him in one episode, it was hilarious! I saw that Ben Stiller will also join him in a future episode, can’t wait to watch!
Recalling my last visit to Macau, I can’t help but notice how huge hotels encompass this small city. My friend was the one who booked our hotel online. There are a lot of reputable online hotel booking sites like Agoda, Asiarooms, etc! I have booked really good deals from them rather than going through very expensive tour agency rates. Anyway, we stayed at Hotel Sintra that time, it was very convenient for us since it was a 10-minute walk to Senado Square.

Boys over Flowers wannabe??
Well, we were passing by the Avenue of Stars one beautiful night in HongKong. A full moon that encompassed the skyline along the coast of Tsim Sha Tsui, a perfect night to watch the Symphony of Lights of Hongkong buildings (around 8 p.m. daily). Avenue of stars is actually similar to Hollywood’s but this is prettier as you can see the famous skyline. I never got to look for Jacky Chan’s star or Andy Lau’s.
Anyway, we walked from the mall connecting to the Avenue of stars…passing by the huge planetarium nearby. TST seems small because the streets are narrow, but if you are not used to walking…(well, good thing we were, shopping rats that we are)..you will feel tired after walking around from the MTR to the riverside. It is located across the majestic Peninsula Hotel.

Not quite the same as the local Halo halo famous here in the Philippines, Singapore has its own version of a cooling treat. Though this is also a shared dessert treat famous also in Malaysia, anyone knows what ice kacang is! It is mainly ice with jelly and beans served with different kinds of colorful syrups.
We bought a serving once in Food Republic in Sentosa because I couldn’t intro to my small brothers any fave dessert in Singapore. Honestly, even after working here for almost a year, it was also my first time.
Though it’s nothing compared to Halo Halo (which I feel is the best! Razon’s hmmm), I still find it quite refreshing in a hot hot summer day in Singapore. I also like Lychee drink (filled with ice shavings) at Kopitiam!
This is my favorite place to relax…somewhere peaceful, and beautiful. A place where the fine sands ultimately won’t burn your feet even on a hot scourging day…Boracay!

This time around, I was a tour guide of Boracay for my friends who visited from Singapore. I wasn’t at ease because I wasn’t able to plan anything at all. We were almost bumped off our flight because we were 10mintues late from Cebu Pacific’s 45mins before flight time limit. Well, good thing we were lucky this time (not the time I went Cebu though…&$%&#!!!) .

Good thing it was a smooth flight to Caticlan, no delays…no unfortunately accidents. Our first lunch was in Aria, located near the beachfront of D’Mall. Time flies so slow in this paradise and even my tourist friends noticed too.

After a sumptuous Italian lunch, we headed back to our hotel to lounge around as it is usually high tide until around 3. Staying at Station 1 is more advantageous since it still has an ample shore even at high tide. It was a long walk back so we ought to ride in the usual tricycle (Php 50 a ride for 4 ppl..not that cheap but more convenient because when I kept count how long, it took us more than 20 minutes to walk from D’Mall to Station 1).
