one too many travel adventures
This is my favorite place to relax…somewhere peaceful, and beautiful. A place where the fine sands ultimately won’t burn your feet even on a hot scourging day…Boracay!

This time around, I was a tour guide of Boracay for my friends who visited from Singapore. I wasn’t at ease because I wasn’t able to plan anything at all. We were almost bumped off our flight because we were 10mintues late from Cebu Pacific’s 45mins before flight time limit. Well, good thing we were lucky this time (not the time I went Cebu though…&$%&#!!!) .

Good thing it was a smooth flight to Caticlan, no delays…no unfortunately accidents. Our first lunch was in Aria, located near the beachfront of D’Mall. Time flies so slow in this paradise and even my tourist friends noticed too.

After a sumptuous Italian lunch, we headed back to our hotel to lounge around as it is usually high tide until around 3. Staying at Station 1 is more advantageous since it still has an ample shore even at high tide. It was a long walk back so we ought to ride in the usual tricycle (Php 50 a ride for 4 ppl..not that cheap but more convenient because when I kept count how long, it took us more than 20 minutes to walk from D’Mall to Station 1).

We booked at Residencia Boracay which is newly renovated. They were hospitable though I expected free WIFI…but no signal in our hotel room! Oh well, they should improve on that…and oh I remember their breakfast..dangit, I am not a fan..made my morning sullen. Anyway, we appreciated the fresh beach towel that we can borrow every time. Aside from that, everything is ok.

Coupled with our beach lounge, we went for the famous fruit shake place in Boracay…Jonah’s! I only tried their mango shake…I really missed this..now they can also serve it using recycled mineral bottle? I hope they’re sanitized! Though their customer service was not exceptional…I think the place this deserves a visit every time. The shake costs around 60-80 pesos if I remember correctly. We had our last lunch here to try out the Choriburger (Boracay’s new food craze).

The next day, we had our share of island tours, my first time to an island where the Crystal Cave is located. It actually looks similar to Bali (though I haven’t been there yet, I would always research about it). There were still a lot of agents who would offer island hopping and water sports. I think everyone seems the same…offer almost the same prices but you can still haggle for sure.

The night would not be complete if you don’t lounge around and try the local favorite like Weng Weng or Blue’s Cruise. Our favorite hangout is Club Paraw. We love the beach lounge area outside the club.

We briefly dropped by the famous Cocomangas though it doesn’t feel so cozy there (a lot of crazy drunk for sure, because of their famous 15 shots…still standing!) My brother wanted me to take a picture of his name plate there…which I stupidly looked of with hundreds around, in a dimly lit disco bar, and yes..I did find it…Literally finding a needle in a haystack.

Well, till another vacation hopefully soon! I think my woes are washed away by the waves…while watching the sunset everything seems to stop. A wonder that leaves people to rethink and be energized by the beauty of nature…something to behold..somewhere we can always go back to……idyllic..blissful.
